A City on a Hill

After Six years of research (it’s always ongoing) and I felt that I had come to a point that I was in a place where I can compile my notes and start the next step and begin my #WIP. A nagging feeling just troubled me right at the gates.  What should entitle this?

I was reading my notes regarding the English’s need to have strong relationships with the native indigenous tribes of New England.  I came across a quote that spoke to me.  It was a line in a passage Governor John Winthrop spoke that in 1630.  Winthrop’s message is in reference to #Jesus’ message on the mount the refers to his followers must be the ‘salt of the Earth’.

Mathew 5:13-14

Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Governor Winthrop stating his expectation, that the people of the Massachusetts Colony must be a guiding light to others.  If it fails, all eyes will be on them.

Not to give anything away, This is so important to establish in the first book of the #MetacomSaga.  Hence, the title.
